Mumbai: There were no signs of strain on Dinesh Dalmia's face as he emerged from a hearing at the Chennai High Court on Monday.

Dalmia, accused of multiple fraud running into hundreds of crores, had arrived in Chennai after a 40-hour journey from Kolkata.

He travelled in an AC first class compartment with family, as against the approved second class AC compartment. What's more is that he was escorted by a Kolkata police officer.

The seats were reserved under the VIP quota. Kolkata Police Commissioner P Mukherjee says he is already investigating the breach and promised disciplinary action against officers who allowed this to happen.

Dalmia is accused of fraud by virtually every investigative agency, including CBI and serious fraud office. He is currently in a Chennai jail for alleged fraud in the 2001 Kolkata stock exchange scam.

SEBI has already slapped a Rs 600 crore penalty on him for defrauding investors and last week, the US state justice department accused Dalmia of a Rs 100 crore fraud.

Despite all this, Dalmia lived freely in New Jersey for four years with an Interpol notice on him. For Dalmia, this freedom continues even behind bars.
