Nestle India Q3 net sales up 17.70% to Rs1,307 crore

Nestle India continues to post healthy sales growth. Its net sales were up by 17.7% to Rs1,307 crore in Q3 (ended on 30 September 2009) thanks to better product mix in domestic sales. Domestic sales account for nearly 94% of its turnover. Total expenses were up by 14.5 % to Rs1,033 crore mainly on higher volumes and increased cost of raw material like sugar.  
 
Operating profits increased by 29% to Rs277 crore and operating margins expanded due to product mix, lower commodity prices except sugar. Sugar prices are at record high levels and they continue to make an impact on margins. The company’s net profit was up by 38.7% to Rs 182.70 crore.
 
Nestle India is a subsidiary of Nestle SA and manufactures wide range of market leading brands like Nestle Chocolates, Lactogen, Everyday, Milkmaid, Nesvita, Maggi Sauce, Nescafe instant coffee and Green Tea. The company has been strong branding that drives premium on its products. The company manufactures around 3,50,000 tonnes of edible products that comprises chocolates (14%), milk powder and nutritional brands (47%), beverages (16%) and prepared dishes (23%). The company has strong presence with a leading rank in baby food, milk powder, instant coffee and instant noodles.
