Deutsche Bank is open to investing in the real-estate segment, but only in Tier-I cities, a senior official told Moneylife on Friday.
“At the moment, we are looking at investing in Tier-I cities as the risk is less in these areas and you can expect good returns. The real-estate sector is showing signs of revival in these cities but in other places, it will take time to revive,” said Lata Pillai, director, commercial real estate group, Deutsche Bank AG. She was speaking at a real-estate conference organised by FICCI.
Ms Pillai said the Bank is mainly looking at residential projects, but would tread with caution as the market had not yet revived fully. This is contrary to the industry’s claims that all segments of the market are bouncing back to 2007 levels. She said the Bank’s view was that the commercial real-estate segment has still not recovered. –Pallabika Ganguly[email protected]
