Have you also noticed that SEBI Chairman C B Bhave says that he as “requested” B Ramalinga Raju to appear before SEBI by 4 pm tomorrow. Not summoned — only requested. If this isn’t kid glove treatment what is?

Do you have a sinking (pun intended) feeling that Mr. Raju is soon going to claim he has a medical condition and spend the rest of his days in a luxury hospital. What we have in common with the US is corporate malfeasance - what is different is the state institutions and our response to it. I mean - think about these guys external auditors - PwC.
Anyone remember Global Trust bank - the ICAI is still investigating that scam while the audit partners make their millions. Turns out it is the same PwC Office - Hyderabad. That one gave a black mark to the "good" name - eh?

Shattering.

On one hand, about 1990-92 CK Prahalad made a case that Indian IT industry, the face of a new India abroad being mostly startups by first-generation technocrats handicapped by inability to manipulate books and powerful people unlike traditional family-run enterprises, deserved a special treatment and protection. Despite an emerging free-market regime for traditional industries, a protective policy package for Indian IT evolved over the past decades, especially for land allotment, Tech Parks, import of software and hardware, Forex for IT promotional expenses overseas, etc.... and now look what happenned!

It seems that even genuine IT entrepreneurs are equally capable of all malpractices of the others in the herd! Given that they are in fact responsible for other companies' ERP installations and functioning, as well as their ability to apparently fudge back end systems, it seems that a VERY SPECIAL POLICY & TREATMENT of dealing with this newly-detected competency needs to be evolved.
